03/01/2010 - Philadelphia, PA (Sportsbook Betting Lines) - The first NTRA Thoroughbred Poll of 2010 has a very similar look to the last of 2009.

The final poll of last year came out after the Breeders' Cup at Santa Anita Park. Finishing in first-place was Zenyatta, the first female to win the Breeders' Cup Classic. In second-place was leading three-year-old filly Rachel Alexandra. Zenyatta had 181 points and 10 first-place votes to Rachel's 176 points and nine first-place votes.

Those two horses are in the same exact positions for the 2010 debut poll. Now a six-year-old mare, Zenyatta received eight first-place votes and 150 points. Reigning Horse of the Year Rachel Alexandra, now a four-year-old filly, is second with five first-place votes and 145 points.

Both ladies are to finally meet on Friday, April 9 at Oaklawn Park in the $5 million Apple Blossom Invitational. It will be the second start of the year for each horse.

Zenyatta, owned by Jerry and Ann Moss, will start in the Santa Margarita Invitational at Santa Anita on Saturday, March 13. The same day Rachel, owned by Jess Jackson and Hal McCormick, will go in the New Orleans Ladies at the Fair Grounds.

A strong third in the initial poll is four-year-old colt Quality Road. He received four first-place votes and 133 points. Trained by Todd Pletcher, Quality Road has won both starts this year, Hal's Hope Stakes and Donn Handicap.

Rounding out the top ten are Gio Ponti, St Trinians, Presious Passion, Eskendereya, Lookin at Lucky, Life is Sweet and Blind Luck.

Eskendereya, winner of the Fountain of Youth Stakes, is atop the three-year- old poll. He received nine first-place votes and 152 points.

Second in the rankings is 2009 champion two-year-old colt Lookin at Lucky. He has 142 points with six first-place votes.

Undefeated three-year-old Conveyance is third with 106 points followed by Rule, Dublin, Caracortado, Super Saver, Discreetly Mine, Vale of York and D' Funnybone.
